Industry Event |
Northern Territory Industry End-of-Year LunchThe Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA) and the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Queensland and Northern Territory (IPWEA QLD & NT) are proud to co-present the Northern Territory Industry End of Year Lunch, bringing together professionals from across traffic management, public works, road infrastructure, local government and asset management. Held on Thursday 10 December 2026 at Wharf One, Darwin, from 12 pm, this event is the perfect way to close out the year with the people who keep Territory roads, worksites and communities moving safely. Why Now? The Case for ConnectionTerritory projects span long distances, tight timeframes and a climate that doesn't care about your program schedule. Doing that work well depends on strong relationships among contractors, councils, consultants, suppliers and asset owners. Our two associations already share much of the same ground. Traffic management and public works intersect daily across project delivery, road maintenance, network operations and community safety, and many organisations in the Territory belong to both networks. Bringing them together in one room makes sense. This lunch gives everyone a chance to step away from the worksite, reflect on the industry's achievements in 2026, and build momentum for a safer and stronger 2027. Guest Speaker: Dr Charlie KingWe are honoured to welcome Dr Charlie King AM as our guest speaker. A Gurindji man, Charlie was the first Indigenous Australian to commentate at the Olympic Games in 2008. He recently retired from the ABC after more than three decades, during which he presented the local Grandstand program. Away from the microphone, Charlie founded the NO MORE campaign in 2006 with CatholicCare NT, developing domestic violence action plans across sporting clubs, remote communities and councils throughout the Territory. He was named NT Senior Australian of the Year in 2019 and became a Member of the Order of Australia in 2021 for his contributions to the Northern Territory's Indigenous community. Charlie's message on leadership, respect and showing up for your community speaks directly to an industry whose work is centred on keeping people safe.
